ELLAVILLE, Ga. — Mrs. Lela Jean Heath, age 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Andrew Stucker and the Rev. Hugh Harbort will officiate. Pallbearers will include Garry Greene, Rick Davis, Jim Davis, Chuck McCrary, Bobby McCrary and Marvin Davis.

Mrs. Heath was born Feb. 5, 1948, in Sumter County, Ga., the daughter of James Alex Davis Sr. and Mary Richards Davis. She had been vice president of operations at Citizens Bank in Americus. She loved to spend time with her family, cooking, doing for others, college football and especially going to the lake house. Mrs. Heath was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mrs. Heath is survived by her husband of 52 years, Johnny Heath; son, Johnny Heath Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Teresa Carver and husband Jack of Americus, Ga.; brother, Hayward Davis of Americus, Ga.; sisters, Charlotte Greene and Nancy Ray, both of Ellaville; sister in law, Betty Johnston of Richland, Ga.; brother-in-law, Ernest Roland Heath and wife Lou of Preston, Ga.; and grandchild, Katie Elizabeth Carver. Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Heath was preceded in death by brothers, Junior Davis, Bud Davis, Harold Davis, Elton Davis; sisters, Doris McCrary and Lorene Murray.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, Ga. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Phoebe Sumter Hospice, P.O. Box 1434, Americus GA 31709.
