CORDELE — A memorial service for Oleta Wages Monts of Cordele will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The family will receive friends immediately following the service or they may be contacted at the residence at 1114 Blackshear Road, Apt. 110, Cordele, GA 31015. Oleta, 90, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Raymond Wages and Lillie Bell Minton Wages. Before her health failed, Oleta was the beloved matriarch of the family and led a very active life involving herself in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a Girl Scout leader and an avid writer and traveler. She was the co-owner along with her late husband, Joseph Holland Monts, of Clinic Drug Store in Americus and managed the family beach properties for many years. She loved her Lord and attended the Vienna Church of God. Oleta is survived by her children and their spouses, Ray and Dale Carter of Cape Coral, Fla., and their children, Tommy Carter Thompson and Courtney Carter Edgy, Gail and Gary Spaay of Dublin and their children, Fran Buxton and Ashley Darby, Beneta Carter Forehand and her children, Ellen Monts Adkins and her children, Jodie Oleta Monts of Cordele and her children, J.C. Savage, Kriston Savage and Woody Savage, and Arthur Lee Massey and his children; a sister, Sybil Wages Beeghly of Albany; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wages, a niece and four nephews, Pam Dixon, Mickey Stokes, Ray Beeghly, Dr. Ben Andrews and his wife, Michelle and Tony Berthalot; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Wages.
