AMERICUS – Three South Georgia Tech Jets were named to the GCAA Division I Men’s Basketball 2017-18 All-Region teams. Sophomores Marquel Wiggins, Ricco Simmons and Dawan Bass were selected for this honor.

Wiggins, a native of Oglethorpe, GA, was selected as a first team All-Region player. The 6’6 Wiggins is averaging 15.7 points per game and is the Jets leading rebounder, averaging 9.1 per game.

In addition to Wiggins, Ricco Simmons was also named to the GCAA Second Team All-Region squad and sophomore Dawan Bass was named to the All-Defensive Team. Bass was also an honorable mention for All-Region.

Simmons, a native of Wilkinson County, GA, was the GCAA Freshman of the Year in 2015, but sat out the 2016-17 season. He returned for the 2017-18 season and led the Jets in scoring with 16.3 points per game. He also leads the Jets in free-throw shooting at 83.3%.

Dawan Bass, a 6’4 sophomore from Baltimore, MD, does well on the defensive end for the Jets, but is also the third leading scorer, averaging 13.1 points per game.
