Americus-Sumter Girls Tennis falls to Columbus

AMERICUS – The Americus-Sumter Girls Tennis Team really struggled Wednesday night, March 7, as Columbus came in and won all of the singles and doubles matches against the Panthers.

Hannah Martinez, the Lady Panthers number one singles player, was shout out by Caroline Boren in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Americus-Sumter’s Jovan Sykes didn’t fare much better against Olivia Philips, losing in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Columbus completed the singles sweep when Joy Mobley blanked the Lady Panthers’ Kimberly Worthy 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, the ASH team of Israel Broomfield and Kirby Perry fell to Nicole Gordon and Lexi Grier 6-0, 6-1. The Lady Blue Devils completed the win as Ragan Faircloth and Carter Hudson defeated the ASH team of Taylor Garcia and Elena Ragan 6-1, 6-0. The Lady PAntheres will try for their first win of the season when they will play both Miller County and Lee County Saturday, March 10, starting at 9 a.m.
