Knights of Columbus to host 21st annual Charity Golf Tournament

AMERICUS – The Knights of Columbus Council 7113 in Americus is hosting its 21st annual charity golf tournament on Saturday, April 7 at 8 a.m. at Griffin Bell Golf Course in Americus.

The tournament is a four-player scramble, and the cost to play is $60 per person. It includes cart, green fee, lunch and drinks. For those who would like to register their teams, they can call Ron Akerman at 229-942-1653, or the Griffin Bell Golf Course at 229-924-2914. Coach Kirby Smart has donated an autographed football as a silent auction item. If teams register before March 31, three golfers will pay $60 to play, and the fourth golfer plays for free.

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic men’s fraternal organization in the world, with over one million members. Ron Akerman, the Golf Tournament Chairman, is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7113 here in Americus. “Our Americus council donated $4,500 to charity from our 2017 charity golf tournament,” Akerman said. “Our Americus Council donates to a lot of charities:  Special Olympics, the Mattie Marshall Center at Magnolia Manor, the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry here in Americus and the Bread of Life organization in Montezuma that helps those who have no insurance.”
