LESLIE — It is again time for the Dogwood Antique Show and Sale in Leslie. A longtime tradition in the spring, the event is anxiously anticipated every year and well attended by locals as well as visitors from the region.
This year’s event is from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Leslie Civic Center. This year’s show will be dedicated to Joe Brewer of Cottage Antiques who passed away in February.
The dealers will have a wide variety of antiques and collectibles, with everything from furniture, stained glass, silver, and jewelry. Returning dealers include Memories (Leighton Smith), LeRoque Gracie’s Antiques (Gracie Harris), Silver Source (Malcolm and Phyllis Argo), D and D Antiques (Dan and Dottie Clayton), The Mule’s Tale (Mike Messner), W. Malcolm Perry Antiques (Malcolm Perry), and Angevine Fine Silver (J. R. Angevine). There are also several new dealers this year including: Buzzards Roost (Ginger Spiers), Valkyrie Traing Inc. (Elvira Hofmann), Styles by Carol (Carol Hudson) and The Purse Lady (Hillary).
The Tea Room will again feature some delectable homemade goodies such as “Miss Kay’s Chicken Salad,” Thomas Harrell’s barbecue and Brunswick stew, vegetable soup and corn bread, a variety of sandwiches including ham and Swiss, pimento cheese, and chicken salad. As usual the variety of homemade desserts will be abundant.
The Town and Country Garden Club thanks all who help put on this show every year. The dealers, patrons, and community volunteers make it possible for the club to earn the funds that they use to help the community of Leslie. Come out and see the little town of Leslie, enjoy a delicious meal and shop with our dealers!
