ATLANTA — Peach State Health Plan announces that Sumter Pediatrics has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). The recognition is valid for three years and applies to the Sumter Pediatrics offices in Sumter, Lee, and Macon counties.
Peach State Health Plan provided educational and technical assistance to support Sumter Pediatrics in obtaining its recognition. The PCMH recognition demonstrates Sumter Pediatrics’ commitment to delivering quality healthcare that results in better self-management by patients, reduced avoidable medical costs over time, and improved staff satisfaction.
“The PCMH model helps streamline patients’ primary care through a number of quality, safety, and efficiency measures,” said Dean Greeson, M.D., senior vice president of medical affairs, Peach State Health Plan. “Our work with Sumter Pediatrics helps ensure that patients receive comprehensive care that accounts for their needs, and we’re extremely proud that we could help Sumter transform its healthcare practice.”
“We decided to become PCMH certified because we want to improve the overall quality of care for our patients,” said Albert Tan, practice manager, Sumter Pediatrics. “We hope this program will help us reduce emergency room visits, unnecessary costs, and improve patient outcomes.”
Peach State Health Plan proudly employs one of the 34 Patient Centered Medical Home Certified Content Experts (CEC) in the state of Georgia. The health plan’s CEC supports providers in navigating through the PCMH Recognition process.
