SSchley County High School won the Area 5A Literary Meet March 6, with an impressive 52 points. The meet was held in Hawkinsville with 10 schools competing. First-place wins include Rylie McIlrath in Dramatic Presentation, Ginny Calhoun in Rhetorical Essay, Lucas Sellers in Boys Solo, and Lucas Sellers, Logan Hair, Noah Hammons, and Matthew Burwell in Quartet. They will be participating at the State Meet March 17 at Buford High School. Second-place wins include Joseph Crumbley in Humorous Interpretation, Kayla Nixon and Ethan Ethridge in Duo Interpretation, Saylor Johnson in International Extemporaneous Speaking, and Maci Lawhorn in Girls Solo. They will also be participating in at the State Meet. Ginny Calhoun also placed third in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, and Maci Lawhorn, Savannah Varnum, and Whitney Register placed fourth in Girls Tri.
