AMERICUS — Mrs. Betty Lou Williams Hagerson, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at her home in Sumter County.
Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Concord United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Matt Avera officiating. Burial will follow in the Hagerson Family Cemetery at Friendship.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church, beginning at 2 p.m.
A native of Sumter County, she was born Oct. 16, 1928, daughter of the late Tom Williams and the late Edna Turner Williams. Mrs. Hagerson was a home maker and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Earlier in life she had worked as deputy clerk in the Sumter County FSA Office (USDA), and later catered events and made wedding cakes.
She was preceded in death in 2016 by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Milton Hagerson; by her daughter, Kay Hagerson Spann; by five brothers: Durrell Williams, Stanley Williams, Dewey Williams, Bobby Williams, and Junior Williams; and by two sisters: Anne Seibert and Margaret Frost.
Survivors include her children: Neil (Linda) Hagerson and Boyd (Rene) Hagerson; grandchildren: Tracey Hagerson, Chris (Katy) Hagerson, Kevin Hagerson, Jody Hagerson, Brad (Cindy) Hagerson, Chip (Penny) Spann, and Chad (Tamara) Spann; great-grandchildren: Emily Campbell, Darden Campbell, Greer Hagerson, Hays Hagerson, Cole Hagerson, Harper Hagerson, Tildon Hagerson, Gray Hagerson, Gabe Spann, Charleigh Spann, Ferryn Spann, K.J. Spann, and Beckett Spann.
