Sumter Cycling presents Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure

AMERICUS – Sumter Cycling is calling all bicycle enthusiasts to register for the annual Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure, hosted by Sumter Cycling, the River Valley Regional Commission, the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and the Andersonville National Historic Site. The date is Saturday, April 14.

This year, all rides will begin and end at the new location…Lenny’s Market in downtown Americus, located at 110 North Hampton Street. After the ride is over, there will be food and music.

Four routes are available in order to accomplish all skill levels: 12, 34, 65 and 105-mile courses. This is a family friendly event and all skill levels are welcomed. In addition, a training ride will be offered on Saturday, April 7, in order to help prepare riders for their ride of choice. All those participating in the training ride will receive a discount code for $5 off the registration fee.

All of the routes, except for the 12-mile route, will enjoy a rest stop at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in order to hydrate and grab a quick snack. The 65 and 105-mile routes will also include a snack break at the Ellaville Methodist Church and the Andersonville National Historic Site.

The start times for each ride are as follows: 105-mile ride begins at 7 a.m. (check in begins at 6:30 a.m.). The 65 and 34-mile rides begin at 8 a.m., and the 12-mile ride begins at 11 a.m.

Riders are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start their respective ride.

The price for the 12-mile ride is $20 before April 8 and $25 thereafter. The 34, 65 and 105-mile rides are $40 before April 8 and $50 thereafter. Children under 10 years of age ride for free.

Registrants will receive a t-shirt, a swag bag, snacks along the course and a meal voucher at the conclusion of the ride. Those wanting to participate should go to sumtercycling.org and click on the EVENTS tab to register.
