He graduated from Americus High School and was active in basketball and football. He received an associate’s degree from Georgia Southwestern College, where he was on the basketball team. Immediately upon graduation, he began a long career with Life Insurance Company of Georgia, following in his father’s footsteps. When his career took him to Montezuma, he met and married his wife of 58 years, Lynn Johnson Everett, who survives him. Larry was a member of Central Baptist Church and enjoyed being active in several churches through the years. He remained a faithful member of the Lions Club. He was passionate about his primary hobby, golf, and was hoping that one day his health would permit him to play once again. He was devoted to his family, which includes four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Central Baptist Church in Americus with Dr. Bryan Myers and the Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will follow.

Also surviving are a brother-in-law and first cousin, Doug Everett and his wife, Janice Johnson Everett, only sister of Lynn. Close relatives, Fred and Rita Sawyer, along with several nephews and cousins, also survive.
