Albany man dies in fiery crash

AMERICUS — A one-car traffic accident killed an Albany man Saturday morning in Terrell County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol Post 10, Americus, which investigated, they were notified at 11:05 a.m. to respond to Ga. Highway 520, south of Parrott, near Kennedy Pond Road in rural Terrell County.
The accident report says that Matthew Bronc Ward, 24, of Albany, driving a 1999 Honda Accord, was traveling east (toward Dawson) on 520 and while negotiating a curve, traveled approximately 214 ft. on the south shoulder and lost control of the vehicle. The car continued traveling out of control for approximately 90 ft. and struck a tree with its front end, overturned, landing on its top and burst into flames with the driver inside.
Ward was dead at the scene, according to the investigating trooper’s report. The report states that it was not raining at the time of the crash.
