AMERICUS — Mr. Herbert Phillip White, age 77, of Americus, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Damon Fountain will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. The family will receive friends at other times at 232 Howard Johnson Road, Americus.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Tyler White, Christopher Labedz, Leon White, Joey Driver, Andy Driver and Todd Bone. Employees of Sumter Electric are asked to be honorary pallbearers.

Mr. White was born June 16, 1940, in Early County, son of the late Lucious White and the late Annie Driver White. He was a retired lineman from Sumter Electric. Mr. White loved to garden, going to the mountains and camping and most of all, he loved his wife and family. He attended Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Polly White of Americus; a daughter Nancy White (Wayne Matthews) of Cordele; a son David White (Tammy) of Plains; and two sisters Betty Layfield (Julian) and Debra McCrary (Wayne) of Wrightsville, Ga. Four grandchildren, Ashley Labedz (Brian Grant), Christopher Labedz, Tyler White, Michaela White; a sister-in-law Mae White and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his first wife Cookie White in 1972, and a brother Joe White.
