OPELIKA, Ala. — Edgar Devaughn Tallent, 89, of Dadeville, Ala., died Friday, May 18, 2018, in Opelika, Ala.

 

The celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Ga., with the Rev. Paul Thomas, the Rev. Bud Rupel and the Rev. Watson McKemie officiating. Interment follows at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, Ga. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Tallent was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Americus, Ga., son of the late Archie Guy Tallent and Marguerite Elizabeth Cheek Tallent. He worked in the grocery business and confectionery sales prior to his retirement.

 

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Lee Buchanan Tallent and a grandson, Joshua Rigsby.

 

Survivors include his son, Michael Tallent (Charlotte); his daughter, Leigh Pfitzner (Kurt); granddaughter, Rachel Arnone (Donald); grandson, Asher Rigsby (Erin); four great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends.
