SAM Shortline to host special Murder Mystery Train & Dinner

PLAINS — President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter invite you to join them Saturday, June 16 for a special Murder Mystery aboard the Historic SAM Shortline Railroad titled “Southern Ways and Means.”
This entertaining play written by Carter’s niece, playwright Kim Carter Fuller, will thrill guests aboard the vintage passenger cars before they deboard at President Carter’s Boyhood Farm in Archery for a down-home barbecue dinner on the grounds.
Boarding begins at 3 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. departure from the SAM Shortline Depot at Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele. Somewhere along the way, the mystery of “Southern Ways and Means” will begin to unfold on the train. Arriving at the Boyhood Farm a little after 6 p.m., passengers will enjoy the barbecue dinner on the grounds and the conclusion of the Murder Mystery before returning to Georgia Veterans State Park at 10:20 p.m.
Coach seating is $99.99 per person and premium car seats are $149.99 per person. A cash bar will be available for all passengers and premium car passengers each receive two complimentary drinks. No alcohol will be served on the return trip.

Proceeds from the Murder Mystery Train will benefit the Historic SAM Shortline Railroad, Friends of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and the Plains Better Hometown Program.
