Southland basketball star Siage Batten to sign with Brewton-Parker

AMERICUS – Southland Academy basketball star Siage Batten is scheduled to sign a letter of intent to continue his education and play basketball at Brewton-Parker College, an NAIA school located in Mount V, GA. The signing will take place on Tuesday, June 19, at Southland Academy.

Batten helped lead the Raiders to a 19-7 overall record in the 2017-18 season and helped lead Southland to the second round of the GISA Class AAA State Playoffs. Batten made All-Region his junior and senior year. He made All-State his senior year and was selected to play in the All-State Senior All-Star Game. Batten averaged 21 points per game for the Raiders during the 2017-18 season. He also averaged over six rebounds per game. Batten set the school record with 153 free throws made.

In his final game as a Raider, a 73-38 playoff loss to Holy Spirit Prep, Batten scored 23 points, leading all scorers. The signing is scheduled to be Tuesday morning, Batten will be joining Americus-Sumter basketball standout Daniel Middleton Jr., who signed a scholarship to play at Brewton-Parker on Wednesday, April 18.
