AMERICUS — Mrs. Dorothy Reeves, age 82, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018, at her home in Americus.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with the Rev. Eddie Braswell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service, and at other times at the family home, 108 Harper Subdivision.

Interment will be private, in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A native of Americus, she was born Dec. 28, 1935, daughter of the late Winfred B. Jackson and the late Bertha Mae Johnson Jackson.

Mrs. Reeves was a retired bookkeeper, having worked at Fresh Farms in Americus. She was of the Baptist faith, and dearly loved her family and enjoyed people.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Reeves; and by a grandson, Jeffery Smith Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Rex C. Reeves; son, Steve Reeves (Shelia); daughter Dianne Reeves Smith (Jeffery); sister, Marie Pittman; grandchildren: Brian Reeves, Brandon Reeves, Lindsey Underwood, Josh Reeves, Kyle Reeves, Tim Reeves, and Jeremy Smith; six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
