AMERICUS — Sam Coolidge Cromer, 93, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Perfect Care in Americus. He was born Dec, 13, 1924, in Oglethorpe to the late Clarence Wesley Cromer and Laura Jones Cromer. He was a deacon and member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 50 years and a member of the Bethel Baptist Brotherhood. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, and having fish fries for family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church in Americus. The Rev. Steven Golden will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca and John Gladden of Cordele and Gail and Thurston Clary of Americus; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gloria Cromer of Ellaville; a sister, Betty Grover of Lake Chippewa, Mich.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Marlene Cromer of Americus. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Jenny and Chris Jalbert, Cindy Cromer, Christopher and Candace Gladden, Nick and Kristy Gladden, and Jason Wisham; and five great-grandchildren: Isabella Jalbert, Christopher Jalbert, Tyler Horne, Sam Gladden, and Mac Gladden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ineal Satterfield Cromer; one sister, Carolyn Nicholson; three brothers, Julian Cromer, Bill Cromer, and Harold Cromer.
