AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University head women’s soccer coach Enrique Rodriguez has released the program’s 2018 schedule. The schedule features nine matches at home and eight on the road.

Following three road matches to kick off the season, GSW will play a historic home opener on Wednesday, September 12 against Middle Georgia College. Why is it historic? It’s the first home match under the lights in program history, and it will begin at 7:30 p.m. GSW will play eight of its nine home matches at 5 p.m. or later this Fall.

The Lady Hurricanes will play three opponents for the first time ever: Warner University (Saturday, September 15), Shaw University (Wednesday, October 3) and Albany State (Wednesday, October 24). The Lady Hurricanes will host all three schools.

Peach Belt Conference play begins Wednesday, September 19 when the Lady Hurricanes travel to Morrow, GA for a game against Clayton State.

GSW will enjoy a pair of three-match home stands in 2018. The first one begins with North Georgia on Wednesday, September 26, and follows with matches against Francis Marion on Saturday, September 29. The third of the first three-match home stand will be on Wednesday, October 3 against Shaw.

The Lady Hurricanes then hit the road to play Young Harris College on Saturday, October 6, followed by Flagler College on Wednesday, October 10. The Lady Hurricanes host UNC Pembroke on Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m. The last road game of the regular season will be at Columbus State on Wednesday, October 17. The Cougars finished the 2017 season ranked No. 12 in the nation in the NCAA Division II Top 25 rankings.

The Lady Hurricanes close out the regular season with their second three-match home stand. The first game is against USC Aiken on Saturday, October 20. The following match will be Senior Day on Wednesday, October 24, against Albany State. The final match of the regular season will be on Saturday, October 27 against Lander University.
