GSW Men’s Golf Coach to become Hall-of-Famer

AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University Men’s Golf Coach Darcy Donaldson was notified on Monday, June 25, that he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame of his alma mater, Concord University. Donaldson was a member of the Concord University Men’s Golf Team from 2003-07.

Donaldson was a three-time All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team selection at Concord. Concord University is an NCAA Division II school in Athens, W. VA. Donaldson was named the WVIAC Freshman of the Year in 2004. He was also named the WVIAC Player of the Year in 2006 and earned PING All-American Honorable Mention recognition in that same year.

Donaldson also helped lead the Mountain Lions to the NCAA Division II East Region Championship in 2006. It was the first NCAA regional championship for Concord in any sport. In that same year, the Mountain Lions qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. During his collegiate career, Donaldson won nine tournaments, including five his junior year.

After graduation, Donaldson stayed at Concord and served as the assistant men’s and women’s golf coach. He helped lead the Mountain Lions to four straight NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances and an NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Region Championship. Donaldson coached four WVIAC Conference Individual Champions, 10 First-Team All-Conference selections and two individual selections, four Academic All-Americans and one NCAA Division II All-American. He also helped coach the women’s program at Concord. Under his tutelage, the Concord Lady Mountain Lions produced seven First-Team All-Conference selections and two individual selections to the NCAA Division II Regional Championship.

In September of 2012, Donaldson was named the head men’s golf coach at GSW. In his six seasons at the helm, Donaldson has led GSW to five team wins, five second place team finishes, five NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Championship appearances and has had one golfer qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Under Donaldson’s leadership, the GSW golf team has had five All-Americans, as well as five players selected to the All-South/Southeast Region Team. Five of his players were named to the All-Peach Belt Conference First Team and four were selected to the PBC All-Conference Second Team.

Donaldson has also had eight players named PBC Players of the Week and five players earned All-American scholar recognition. Three other GSW golfers earned Academic All-American Team awards under Donaldson’s watch.

Donaldson’s induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 6.
