• Firefighters responded to 62 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Forsyth Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Glessner Street.
• Firefighters responded to Habitat Street to a water heater on fire. It was determined there was no fire and the occupant’s water line ruptured going to the water heater.
• Firefighters responded to Knollwood Drive to a structure fire. It was actually a shorted outlet.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Lee Street.
• Firefighters responded to Sunset Drive to a report of a gas leak. The gas department was notified and they found that the pilot light for the stove was out.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Rucker and Maxwell streets.
• Firefighters responded to Roney Street for a welfare check.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on West Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to East Glessner Street to a fuel spill in the street outside a driveway. They removed the small diesel spill with absorbent.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on Beale Street. Upon arrival, they found the structure 50 percent involved in flames. They forced entry into the structure, but were forced to exit after loose wires started to arc. They forced entry into the unit next door and fought the fire.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Hancock Drive. It was accidentally triggered by someone changing the batteries.
• Firefighters responded to a telephone wires down on North Lee Street.
• Firefighters responded to Hosanna Circle to a report of a gas odor in the structure. They found a scorched blanket on the front steps that had been soaked in water. The occupant said a relative placed the blanket in the dryer along with other laundry, causing the dryer to overheat.
• Firefighters responded to Douglas Circle to a report of a gas odor. The occupant told them a neighbor has smelled a has odor coming from a meter. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Peachtree Street. Sumter County Fire & Rescue was already on scene upon arrival. They found that food had been left in the microwave oven.
• Firefighters responded to Lonnie Lane to a report of a structure fire. They found a cooking fire that had burned the upper cabinets. They removed the cabinets and the stove.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on West Church Street. The occupant said she couldn’t get her smoke alarm to stop going off.
• Firefighters responded to Rucker Street to a report of a dumpster fire, which they extinguished.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Eastview Drive which was activated by a cooking fire which was already out.
• Firefighters responded to a cooking fire on East Glessner Street caused by a pot left on the stove which smoked up the interior.
• Firefighters responded to North Lee Street to a report of a possible structure fire. Sumter County Fire & Rescue was already on the scene. Occupants said they had heard a popping noise after turning off the dryer. They found a smoke odor near the fuse panel. They found a blown fuse. There was no fire.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a gas odor on Hosanna Circle. No hazards were found.
