Phoebe Sumter to host Children’s Health Fair

AMERICUS — Phoebe Sumter Medical Center hosts a Children’s Health Fair from 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, July 21 at The Columns Building at Boone Park, 408 Rucker St.
Themed “Be Young, Be Active, Be Healthy,” the event features free screenings for children ages 5-17 for weight, BMI, blood pressure and blood sugar. (Children who wish to test for blood sugar should not eat after midnight the night before).
Participants are invited to bring a soil sample in a one-quart Ziploc bag to be tested free by Rural Georgia Healthy Housing.
The event features music, Zumba, kickball and other activities and a dance contest. A healthy lunch will be provided and free back to school supplies will be given away while supplies last.
All children must have adult supervision at the event, which is co-sponsored by Americus and Sumter County Parks & Recreation Department and the Housing Authority of Americus.
Vendors and organizations participating include Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Sumter County Fire & Rescue, Americus Police Department, Innovative Senior Solutions, Department of Family & Children Services, Peachstate Wellcare, HIV Intervention, Sumter County Health Department, Center Stage Market, Royal Treatment Health System, Georgia Gateway/Maximus, Albany YMCA and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).
