Early-morning motorists on East Lamar Street in Americus Thursday got a surprise as water spewed and arced across the roadway. Larry Riner, Public Works director for the city of Americus, said it was not a water main break. He said workers digging in that area uncovered some ‘old service’ and it exploded, sending water high into the sky for a short while until they could get it capped.
