ELLAVILLE — Mr. Andrew F. “Pops” Vanlerberghe, 85, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018. at Perfect Care in Americus, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home with the Rev. Mr. Bernie Bosse officiating.  The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Steven Vanlerberghe, Andrew Vanlerberghe, Nicholas Vanlerberghe, Zack Royal, Jeremy Royal and R.T. Lumpkin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Camron Vanlerberghe, Trypp Lumpkin, Bradley Vanlerberghe and Bryson Vanlerberghe.

Pops, as he was affectionately known by everyone, was born March 13, 1933, in Berville, Michigan, to the late Andrew D. Vanlerberghe and Madeline Pype Vanlerberghe. He moved to Ellaville in 1958, to help start up the Champion Mobile Home plant, where he worked until it closed and then worked with Cullip Industries, Procter & Gamble. Mr. Vanlerberghe then went to work with Shiver Lumber Co. as a security guard, until his retirement. Pops never met a stranger, and loved to talk to anyone. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.  Mr. Vanlerberghe enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Americus, Ga. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vanlerberghe was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy G. Vanlerberghe; two sons, Rob Vanlerberghe and Steven Vanlerberghe; and three brothers, Gary Vanlerberghe, George Vanlerberghe, and Donnie Vanlerberghe.

Survivors include his daughter, Shanon Royal of Ellaville, Ga.; a sister, Ginny Crause of Caseville, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Steven Vanlerberghe, Brad Vanlerberghe, Andrew Vanlerberghe, Nick Vanlerberghe (Anna), Leandra Lumpkin (R.T.), Zack Royal (Rebecca) and Jeremy Royal; six great-grandchildren, Camron Vanlerberghe, Trypp Lumpkin, Kylee Lumpkin, Bradley Vanlerberghe, Bryson Vanlerberghe and Laikyn Vanlerberghe.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Perfect Care Inc., 114 Sullivan Drive, Americus GA 31709.
