AMERICUS — An arrest was made Friday afternoon in the investigation into a Schley County shooting from a week ago.
The Americus Office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Schley County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in 100 block of Minter Road in Ellaville, Schley County last weekend.
According to a news release issued by the GBI, the Schley County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding the shooting at approximately 12:48 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 18. The victim, Bryce Mason, age 46, was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center where he later died. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, Aug. 20 at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon.
Vidal Ybarra, 58, of Ellaville is charged with murder and aggravated assault.
The investigation regarding this incident is still ongoing. No further details were made available.
