Class of 2026 scholars in Laura Gerlach’s fifth-grade class at Furlow Charter School kick off the 2018-2019 school year by learning how to use their new Chrome Books while researching the various locations they will study in social studies this year. Scholars accessed Google Earth, the large U.S. map, and a collection of atlases to complete their task. Scholars pinpointed each location on one of the four maps specific to the United States, Western Hemisphere, Asia, and Europe. Understanding how to read a map lays essential groundwork for connecting the dots of historical events. Aaron West and Collin Richardson, in the foreground, can be seen accessing online resources on their individual Chrome Books while Maci Horn and Marlee Holloway, in the background, team up to study the magical pull-down map of the United States.
