Southland Academy rolls Loganville Christian

AMERICUS – The Southland Academy Raiders (3-0) rolled over the Loganville Christian Academy Lions 38-14 on Friday, September 7, at Harvey Simpson Stadium.

Quarterback Landon Law opened the scoring with a one-yard run for a touchdown with 5:21 left in the first quarter. Zane Hines’ extra point was good and the Raiders led 7-0. Running back Clay Owens then doubled the score when he scored a nine-yard touchdown run. Hines’ extra point was good and Southland led 14-0.

Loganville Christian got back in it when Dana Lucas Jr. scored on a 14-yard touchdown run. The PAT by Bryson Franklin was good, making the score 14-7 Southland.

That would be all the scoring LCA would get as the Raider defense shut them down.

In the third quarter, Owens scored his second touchdown on a 56-yard run. The PAT by Hines was good and Southland led 21-7 with 7:10 left in the third quarter.

With 11:58 in the fourth, Owens scored his third touchdown on a 34-yard run. The PAT by Hines was good and the Raiders led 28-7.

Southland put the icing on the cake when Andrew Bell scored on a 19-yard run. The Raiders won going away 35-7.

Zane Hines would later kick a 39-yard field goal for Southland, and LCA’s Dean Mugomba scored a touchdown, making the final 38-14 in favor of the Raiders.

Southland (3-0) will head to Duluth, GA next Friday night, September 14, to take on Notre Dame Academy. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
