AMERICUS — The Americus Police Department released information about a body found early Friday in north Americus.
The press release says that a multistate investigation into a missing person out of Florida resulted in locating a deceased person in a wooded area off the 900 block of Railroad Street around 7 a.m. Friday.
Special Agent Terry Howard of the Region 3 Office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to the Times-Recorder that the body is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon. Howard did not know if the body was that of a male or a female, how long it had been there, and wouldn’t reveal how the body was discovered.
The Americus Police Department and the GBI are conducting the investigation.
