Ellaville Methodist Choir sings at Perfect Care
On Sept. 6, the Ellaville United Methodist Church Choir went to Perfect Care in Americus for their monthly visit to sing for the residents. Those that sang and entertained were the Rev. Jonathan and LeeAnn Beckum, Wayne and Nora Morrow, Darlene Lewis, Olivia Mallichek, Sharon Wall, Judy McClellan, and Mary Nan Pilcher.
The pastor played his guitar and sang several songs and Wayne Morrow played several songs on his harmonica.

Schley County Family Connection updates
The Schley County School System, as well as other schools throughout Georgia, recently received 1,000 free books from Better World Books Inc. Richard Woods, Georgia’s State School superintendent, made the presentation in Ellaville.
Eight percent of children receiving school lunches for free or reduced prices that are under a federal assistance program, could lose the subsidy if the 2018 Farm Bill is passed by Congress.
Medicare services are set to improve this upcoming year. Senior citizens are eligible to receive a Life Alert System through Medicare without paying. Also, senior citizens who are admitted into the hospital can receive seven days of precooked meals once they return home. Fourteen meals will be delivered to their homes to help with their recovery.
Heather Hathaway, new advisor for Students Against Destructive Decisions, says planning is underway for prevention and service activities for Students as well as Red Ribbon Week activities at Schley County High School Oct. 24-31.
Stephen Woodson, truancy officer for Schley County School System, reports that there are no major attendance issues facing the school system for the new school year.

Ellaville Methodist Church has many activities planned
Ellaville United Methodist Church will be having a lot of special activities coming up.
On Sept. 30, there will be a 5th Sunday dinner served following the morning worship service. Then at 4 p.m. the church hosts the District Meeting.
On Oct. 7, following the morning worship service, there will be a covered dish lunch to welcome the new pastor and his wife, Haynes and Michelle Martin.
Oct. 14 will be the biggest day ever when the church celebrating its 160th anniversary with a big dinner served at the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion following morning worship. There will also be a Fellowship Time with light refreshments during the Sunday school that morning.
At 2 p.m. Oct. 21, there is a Bridal Shower scheduled to honor Payton Dillard.
On Oct. 27, the annual barbecue us held. Everyone is invited for worship and fellowship.

Historic society auction a big success
The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society and I everyone
for helping to make annual auction a huge success.
First we thank the “Lonesome Road Bluegrass Christian Band, whose music was enjoyed by everyone.
We especially thank everyone who donated items for the auction. Your kind donations are what helps for such a big success every year.
On behalf of all the members, I also thank all the volunteers that worked so hard in like collecting items, setting up for the auction, and working the auction in many ways
Thanks to Larry Wall for the delicious barbecue, and thank you to the women for their delicious baked goods.
The raffles were also a huge success with the following winners. The quilt was won by Nancy M. Young. The 50/50 was won by
Martha Harrison and the Ruger Rifle was won by Eddie Watson.
All proceeds from the annual auction toward local historic preservation.
We also thank the newspapers and radio stations for helping get the word out about the auction.
And we thank everyone who came out for the event to show their support.
