AMERICUS — Mattie Ruth “Nanny” Wilson, age 91, of Americus, died on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Mrs. Wilson was a native of Forsyth Georgia born Aug. 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Lee Andrew and Mary Wiggins Wilson. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church and loved her family dearly.

Funeral services will be held on at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dennis Stalvey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel, and at other times at the family residence, 801 Douglas Drive, Americus, Ga.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Roy Barker of Montezuma, Cheryl Smarr of Mock, Bobbie and Robbie Welch of Americus, and Danita, Rocky LeBlanc of Cooper Cove, Tenn.; Four sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny Smarr of Americus, Pete and Kim Wilson of Abbeville, Ala., Micky Smarr of Conyers, and Ricky and Robin Smarr of Cordele. Also surviving are three sisters, Ellen Herndon of Smarr, Nadine Wilson of Forsyth, Willene Wilson of Forsyth; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gordon and Bobbie Wilson of Spokane, Wash., and Talmadge Wilson of Montezuma; 18 grandchildren; 27great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by one grandson, Nick Smarr.
