Wright named president & CEO of Chamber

AMERICUS — The Sumter County Chamber of Commerce announces that Carolyn Wright will fill the role as president & CEO for the Chamber. Wright’s leadership allows the Chamber to move forward with an aggressive platform that will focus on enhanced member benefits, division goals, and adding new programs that will position the Chamber as a stronger voice for business in Sumter County.
Since coming to the Sumter County Chamber almost two years ago as a consultant, Wright has consistently driven the Chamber to improve its outreach to members, increase Chamber membership and bring value back to the heart of the organization by bringing all programs and priorities back to service and value-added to member businesses. Under her stewardship, and in partnership with the board of directors in the coming year, she will roll out exciting new programs that will place the Chamber as a leading economic development partner and advocate for business growth in Sumter County.
Rhett Simmons, chairman of the Sumter County Chamber states, “Carolyn Wright is a 29-year veteran as president and CEO of Chambers of Commerce in Georgia and Texas, and has demonstrated excellence and expertise in growing Chambers in smaller communities like Americus, but also in larger, urban areas in North Georgia and in Houston, Texas. We are excited to name Carolyn as the permanent president of our Chamber and are fortunate to have her serve our community and guide us into a new era of success for our business community.” Simmons continued, “Carolyn has already helped us refocus on the importance of providing value back to our membership. We really think she can help take us to the next level.”
