AMERICUS — Andrew Herring has been chosen as Americus-Sumter High School’s (ASHS) Teacher of the Month for August 2018. Each month, one ASHS teacher is selected to receive this award for exhibiting exemplary service to students and parents. Principal Kimothy Hadley recently presented Herring with the award during a ceremony in the school library. Hadley praised Herring “for his tireless efforts in bringing his best to the students of Americus-Sumter High. Mr. Herring has shown a great deal of growth over the past two years, and we are proud to have him as a faculty member.”
Herring teaches earth science and environmental science at ASHS. He holds three degrees from The University of Georgia: a bachelor science in geology, a bachelor of science in geography, and a master’s of science education. He comes from a family of teachers; his mother teaches high school chemistry and physics, and his father is a professor of engineering at the University of Georgia.
Herring said he is honored to be selected as teacher of the month. “I am happy and proud to be chosen for this award. It is truly an honor to serve my students,” he said.
