Lady Panthers rout Dougherty in Region 1-AAAA opener

AMERICUS – The Lady Panthers took control early against the Lady Trojans and never looked back on their way to a 70-21 thrashing of Dougherty in their Region 1-AAAA opener on Tuesday, November 27, at Americus-Sumter High School.

With the win, ASHS improves to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in Region 1-AAAA play. Dougherty drops to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in Region 1-AAAA.

ASHS had four players in double-figures. Brianna Pope had a double-double on the night, scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds. De’Asia Ford also had a double-double for the Lady Panthers. Ford scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. She also had six assists and five steals.

Destinee Sims had 12 points and six steals, and Adrienne Anthony scored 10 points while hauling down six rebounds. Tiffany Goodman also had a good night for the Lady Panthers. Goodman scored eight points, dished out seven assists and had four steals on the night.

Trinity Jackson rounded out the scoring with six points and grabbed eight rebounds. Erykah Taylor scored eight points to lead Dougherty.

Up next for the Lady Panthers is a trip down the road to Leesburg to take on Lee County in a rematch on Saturday, December 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
