FEMA/STATE Mobile Disaster Recovery Center to close

The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) in Sumter County will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The MDRC, located at the Georgia National Guard Armory, 901 Adderton St., Americus, will not reopen.

Georgia residents affected by Hurricane Michael can visit any Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) for disaster assistance; the DRC does not have to be in the county in which the survivor lives.

DRCs provide residents an opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives from the State of Georgia, FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and other federal partners.

Use FEMA’s DRC Locator for a list of all centers in southwest and central Georgia, or call the FEMA helpline at: (800) 621-3362. Online, visit DisasterAssistance.gov, or use a tablet or smartphone to access the FEMA app or visit www.fema.gov/DRC.

FEMA also has dedicated phone lines to assist disaster survivors who are deaf, speech impaired or hard of hearing. The TTY number is: (800) 462-7585.
