Schley County Class of 1963 holds 55th reunion
Jimmy and Marianne Phillips were hosts to the Schley County High School Class of 1963 reunion. This class celebrated their reunion at the home of the Phillipses.
The Reunion was held on Nov. 9 and 10 with classmates and guests arriving on Friday for lunch.
There were eight members of the class that attended as well as many other guess who enjoyed lunch, supper, and breakfast.
After breakfast the next morning, the group held a Memorial Dedication of an Autumn Blaze Red Maple tree which was given by the Class of 1963 and planted at the home of Lewis and June Lightner in memory of their daughter Tina Lightner Snyder.
Classmates that attended were Ruby Phillips Aldridge (Mac), Betty Willis Brewer (Willard), Dru Allen Hill, Lewis Lightner (June), Reba Phillips Scott, Virginia Ray Dobbs Sewell, Robbie Whaley Woolbright (Charlie), and Jimmy and Marianne Phillips.
Guests that attended were Dawn Hardison, Mickey and Stephanie Holloway, Wilbur and Vicki Justice, Kim and Glen Lawhorn, Olivia Mallichek, Peggy Tondee Smith, Maggie Streetman, and Johnny and Nell Wall.
This was a delightful event.

Lighting of Schley County Courthouse puts Christmas in the air
On Friday night, Nov. 23, the City of Ellaville turned on the Christmas lights on the Schley County Courthouse and also lighted the Christmas tree in the City Park.
This special event has brightened our spirits for Christmas. The courthouse has been renovated for a while, but now it’s pretty again for Christmas and everyone is happy.
There was a nice crowd that night. Santa Claus was there in the park, visiting with the children, along with The Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph. It was cold that night which added to the season’s spirit.
Thanks to the City of Ellaville for putting the lights back on the courthouse and for lighting the Christmas tree in the park.

Local couple celebrates wedding anniversary today
Today, Bobby and Nancy McMath Young are celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary.
They were married on Dec. 1, 1961, in St. Simons Island.
We are truly blessed to have been married so long. God has been so good to us and we both really love the people in Ellaville and Schley County.
