AMERICUS — Both Jody Smith and Nick Smarr were Georgia police officers and best friends who lost their lives together two years ago in the line of duty. What better way to honor their lives than to give a pint of blood in remembrance of their sacrifice so that others may live.
The American Red Cross and Phoebe Sumter Medical Center host a community blood drive from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at Americus First Baptist Church, 221 S. Lee St. All presenting donors will receive a free American Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last!
