AMERICUS — twenty40 Young Professionals Group and the graduate and collegiate chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. represented in Americus, present “The Depressed Millennial: A Serious Discussion about Depression and Anxiety” from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 8 in room 127 of the Administrative Building at Georgia Southwestern State University. Additionally, the event will feature acclaimed author, Dacari Middlebrooks.
Middlebrooks is a native of Atlanta, and is a huge advocate for human development, and a chief catalyst for social, and cultural change. He received a bachelor of arts in mass communications with a concentration in film, radio, and television from Morehouse College. He is also a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he received his master’s of divinity degree in the fall of 2010.
Middlebrooks serves as the creative director for Mount Zion Anywhere (Virtual Campus of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Nashville, Tenn.), and branding/marketing consultant for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International.
Throughout his eight-year tenure with Mount Zion Baptist Church, Middlebrooks has built a reputation for developing business strategies, incubating new business models, and more importantly — developing leaders. Embracing core values of integrity, innovation, and growth, Middlebrooks consistently ranks among the top 3 percent of employees in both organizations.
Middlebrooks is an author, entrepreneur, social media advocate, radio personality, speaker, mentor, member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., among others. He is a father (Dacari J. Middlebrooks II), son, brother, and friend to many.
Middlebrooks said, “I never saw myself entering ministry full-time; I had dreams of becoming an actor and living in Hollywood, but God had different plans. God has given me a different stage, and it’s to empower, educate, and entertain people — may that be through the ministerial engagement, educational suites, radio, print, public relations, television or film.” Middlebrooks believes, “there is no greater gift in life than speaking life into other individuals, and aiding them in fulfilling their purpose.”
To hear Middlebrooks discuss his book The Depressed Millennial and his own personal journey, join twenty40 Young Professionals Group and the graduate and collegiate chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. Feb. 8. Refreshments are provided by Ruby Tuesday of Americus.
