AMERICUS — Mrs. Virginia “Ginny” Sanderlin Whaley, age 57, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. in Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Americus, Ga., with the Rev. Dr. Jerry A. Roe officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow at Sally Run, 2347 S. Lee St., Americus immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, in Andersonville National Cemetery.

Ginny was born Dec. 27, 1961, in Americus, Ga. She graduated from Southland Academy in 1980, and Georgia Southwestern College with a bachelor of science and sociology. She was a flight attendant for over 34 years with Delta Airlines. Ginny was a member of the Junior Service League of Americus, Four Seasons Garden Club, and First United Methodist Church in Americus.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Richard Alan Whaley; parents, Charles and Vangie Sanderlin; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Ron and Jennifer Allen; brother, Dr. Chip Sanderlin; sister-in-law, Dr. Tia Sanderlin; mother-in-law, Mrs. Cordelia Whaley; two brothers-in-law, Rusty Whaley, Rob and Deanie Whaley; nine nieces and nephews, Griffen Allen, Will Allen, Taylor Sanderlin, Gracyn Sanderlin, Charlie Sanderlin, Jimmy Whaley, Ashton Whaley, Robby Whaley, and Reagan Whaley. Also surviving are two very special friends Marcia Dupree and Andrea Powell. Ginny was preceded in death by her birth mother, Diane Richardson Sanderlin, and her father-in-law, Jim Whaley.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Powell, Ben Dupree, Jeff Alexander, Robert Parks, Darrell Hobgood, Jim Buchanan, Gene Beall, Bill Harris Jr., and Mike Shattles.
