SGTC to host Emergency Responder Continuing Education Course

CORDELE— South Georgia Technical College will offer a Continuing Education Emergency Medical Responder Course from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 2-April 6 on the college’s Crisp County Center campus. Cost is $100 per participant.
This fast-paced course is approved by the Georgia State Office of Emergency Medical Services & Trauma (SOEMST). Successful completion will allow the student to be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certifications.
The training will include initial stabilizing care to the sick or injured prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services Professionals (EMS) as well as training to be able to assist EMS personnel in transporting patients for definitive care to an appropriate hospital/facility.
Students will also participate in an introduction to medical rerminology and anatomy & physiology course and learn more about cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs). Training on responder safety, incident command, blood-borne pathogens; and basic physical assessment will also be conducted.
