AMERICUS — The Furlow Charter School board of directors announced the selection of a new interim principal, Jason Williams, who began his appointment on Feb. 19, and will serve through the remainder of the 2018-19 school year.
Williams is in his third year as an administrator at Furlow Charter School. He holds a bachelor of science in both mathematics and political science, a master of business administration, and a specialist in educational leadership. While teaching high school mathematics at Webster County, he was recognized as a STAR Teacher, received numerous golden apples, and the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School Award Winner. Following 11 years of service as a high school math teacher, he accepted a position as Furlow’s assistant principal at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Americus Kiwanis Club. He is married to Tasha Williams and has three sons: Owen, Luke, and Reid. Williams attends Central Baptist Church and enjoys umpiring NCAA and high school softball.
Williams replaces the previous principal, Elizabeth Kuipers, Ph.D., who will continue at Furlow in the role of consultant and ambassador. Kuipers was a founding member of the Furlow governing board.
