Bicyclist struck, killed

AMERICUS — A bicyclist was struck and killed Tuesday evening in Americus.
According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Post 10, Americus, which is investigating the accident, it occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Felder Street.
According to the GSP, a GMC Sonoma driven by Nikki Smith, age 28, was traveling west on Felder while James A. Swilley, age 60, was riding a bicycle in the middle of the westbound lane. The report says that Smith did not see the
bicyclist and struck him with the front of the vehicle. The bicyclist was taken by EMS to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center where he was pronounced death. Both are from the Americus area.
The accident is still under investigation.
