AMERICUS — The Sumter County Development Authority (SCDA) recently launched a new website at www.selectsumter.com.
Previously, the SCDA shared a joint site with the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce. By launching its own site, the SCDA can provide more detailed information to economic development prospects.
“We wanted businesses, industries and developers to be able to quickly access the information they need when deciding to relocate or expand in Sumter County,” said Barbara Grogan, SCDA executive director. “With our new site they have access to the workforce data and resources they need to make an informed decision about moving to or expanding in our county.”
From the site, prospective companies can access workforce data such as the county’s K-12 and post-secondary training programs, demographic data including wages and employment, infrastructure information about electric, gas, and telecommunications, and specific information about which industrial properties are available. Visitors to the site can also get a feel for the community because the SCDA used local photos of businesses and events instead of stock photos for the new site.

Founded in 1962, SCDA partners with business and industry to create an attractive and supportive environment for economic development and expansion. SCDA maintains the Ted Baldwin Business and Technology Park, two contact centers, a spec building and manufacturing facilities. The SCDA offers incentives for growth, and more than 600 acres of developable land to businesses, developers and corporate projects relocating or expanding in Sumter County.
