GSW golf team finishes tied for fourth place at Bearcat Classic

GREENWOOD, SC – The Georgia Southwestern State University golf team finished tied for fourth place out of 22 teams competing at the Bearcat Invitational Monday through Tuesday, March 25-26, at the Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, SC.

The tournament was hosted by Lander University.

Vincent Norman shot a 69 in the third and final round to push his way into a second place individual finish with an overall score of 210 (-6) final score.

Norman’s second-place finish out of 110 golfers helped the Hurricanes end the tournament tied for fourth place in the overall team standings. GSW shot an overall team score of 870 (+6). As a result, the Hurricanes have now earned their fourth top-5 finish this season and Norman picked up the seventh top-5 finish of his career.

GSW’s Will Hernandez shot a 72 in Round 3, dropping 12 spots from Day 1 as he finished tied for 28th place with a total score of 219 (+3). Tyler Barker moved up a few spots and finished the tournament tied for 31st place with a total score of 220 (+4). Cole Madison finished the tournament with an overall score of 226 (+10) and finished tied for 63rd place. Ryan Cahill finished the Bearcat Classic tied for 70th place with an overall score of 227 (+11).

Dan Bradbury of Lincoln Memorial University (TN) won the individual title with a total score of 208 (-8). Clayton State’s Javier Gonzalez and Jon Parker of Lander University finished in third and fourth place respectively.

Lincoln Memorial, ranked 11th in the nation in the NCAA Division II rankings, won the team title as they shot a final score of 861 (-3). Clayton State and Lander finished in second and third place respectively.

Up next for the Hurricanes is the Peach Belt Conference Championship Friday through Monday, April 19-21, at the World Golf Village Slammer & Squire Course in St. Augustine, FL.
