(April 26-29)
• Firefighters responded to 13 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Mayo Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to two traffic accidents on North Lee Street.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Eastview Drive which was caused by burning food while cooking. There was no fire.
• Firefighters responded to a report of smoke coming from a house on Sheffield Street. Sumter County Fire & Rescue was first on scene. There was smoke visible but the residence was locked. Firefighters forced entry through the front door and found hazy smoke throughout the structure. The source was found outside at the HVAC handling unit. They disconnected it and ventilated the structure. Homeowner was advised to contact a repairman.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Taylor Street. They found a small vehicle had struck a tree.
