• Firefighters responded to 21 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Hosanna Circle. Sumter County Fire & Rescue made initial contact and determined the smoke detector was activated by burning food on a grill.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at East Lamer and Felder streets.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Tripp Street which turned out to be a false alarm.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a transformer smoking on Denham Drive. Georgia Power was notified.
• Firefighters responded to Simmons Drive where they found two power lines down and a tree on a house, but no loss of power. The street was blocked off with safety cones and barrels until Georgia Power arrived on the scene.
• Firefighters responded to Rose Avenue where they found a tree on power lines that were arcing and burning. It was determined there was no threat to structures or citizens.
• Firefighters responded to Rucker Street where they found a broken cable wire lying near the roadway. No hazards were found the cable company was notified.
• Firefighters responded to West Church Street where they removed a tree limb from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a person down on Mayo Street. No incident was found.
