Macy-Grace Piano Studio holds 2019 Recital

At 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, Mary Nan Pilcher held her Macy-Grace Piano Recital at Ellaville United Methodist Church.

Mary Nan welcomed everyone and the Rev. Haynes Martin opened with prayer.

Following is a list of the students who performed and their song(s).

Sandra McDaniel — “How Great Thou Art.”
Vicki Teele  — “You Say”

Olivia Tibbitt — “You Are My Sunshine” and “This is the Day”

Faith Layman  — “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”
Mary Kate Still — “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” and “Jesus Loves Me”
Gabriel Reyes — “The Entertainer” and “When The Saints Go Marching In”
Grace Layman — “Lord of the Dance”
Whitney Register  — “Holly Spirit”

Dylan Wall — “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Blueberry Hill”
Liberty Justice — “Shenandoah” and “The Lord’s Prayer”
Mary Hall — “Beatle Mania, A Beatles Medley”

All students were presented with a certificate and a piano medallion by their teacher, Mary Nan Pilcher.

Mary Kate Still was recognized for taking music lessons for five years.

After the recital, everyone was invited to enjoy refreshments in the church Social Hall. The serving table was covered with white linen table cloths with a centerpiece of a miniature baby grand piano setting on a stand. Cupcakes and punch were served.

This is a really enjoyable event once a year for everyone.

 

 

Ellaville Methodist Wesleyan Group meets
At 7 7 p.m. May 6, the Ellaville United Methodist Church Wesleyan Group met in the church Social Hall.

Sharon Wall called the meeting to order with Ann Gill opening with prayer. Ann gave the secretary’s report.
Many activities, including Vacation Bible School, were discussed. Family Night Supper will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 21 and a a Talent Show will follow. Mary Ellen McCorkle announced about the upcoming events involving the South West District of the UMW and many activities that will be going on this summer with the District UMW.

Mary Ellen McCorkle is in charge of selling our projects which we’ve sold for years. We have vanilla and lemon flavorings, Danny Duzits, knives and much more. If you are interested in
buying something, call Mary Ellen McCorkle or see some of the ladies at the church for catalogs.

Sharon Wall gave an impressive program on Mothers’ Day.

Carlynn Kirby was hostess. She served strawberry shortcake with coffee.

Those attending, in addition to those mentioned above, were were Nora Morrow and Nancy McMath Young.

Ellaville-Schley Chamber of Commerce meets

The Ellaville-Schley County Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the courthouse, downtown.
Brook Belcher, president, called the meeting to order with Jimmy Harrison opening with prayer.

Nancy McMath Young spoke to the Chamber about updating the Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society, and other projects the historical society is doing.
The Chamber mentioned three businesses that are up for sale, two downtown and one next to the cemetery.

 

Rainbow Garden Club chooses May Yard of the Month
The Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club has selected the yard of the month for May. This special recognition goes to Jody and Donna Dillard. They live on North Stevens Street.

The Rainbow Garden sign will be in the front yard. Congratulations to the Dillards for this recognition.
