Schley County boys’ golf team finishes third in state

WARNER ROBINS – The Schley County Wildcat boys’ golf team finished in third place at the GHSA Class A-Public State Golf Tournament at the Landings in Warner Robins.

The tournament was played Monday through Tuesday, May 20-21.

Senior Thad Clark led the Wildcats to their third-place finish by shooting a two-day score of -1143. That score was also good enough for Clark to win his second straight individual state title. Clark ended up winning the title by three strokes. The Wildcats finished in third behind state runner-up Drew Charter and state champion Gordon Lee. In addition to Clark, the other members of the SC boys’ golf team that brought home the third-place trophy were Chris Hiltz, Matthew Minor, Jackson Kiff, William Harden and Caleb Johnson.

The Schley County girls’ golf team finished in seventh place at the GHSA Class A-Public State Golf Tournament. Team members from left to right include Amanda Murray, Miranda Thompson, Preslee Owen and Brooklyn Hancock.

In girls’ action, the Schley County Lady Wildcat golf team finished in seventh place overall at the GHSA Class A-Public State Golf Tournament at the Southern Hills Golf Course in Hawkinsville. That tournament was also played Monday through Tuesday, May 20-21. The members of the girls’ team include Amanda Murray, Miranda Thompson, Preslee Owen and Brooklyn Hancock.
