Americus-Sumter High School staff member Geneva Waters recently spoke to several English classes about the joys and benefits of becoming a lifelong reader. Waters visits classes regularly around the school to share her enthusiasm for reading and to discuss and recommend specific titles to the students. She encourages them to embrace reading as a life choice. “We call it Book Talk, which is an ongoing part of the D.E.A.R. program (Drop Everything And Read). It’s been very positive, both for me and for the kids. A bonus has been watching students overcome the fear of speaking in front of groups. Everyone seems to be enjoying the program, and we look forward to even bigger successes next school term.”  Shown here, Waters speaks to high school students about the importance of becoming lifelong readers
