Patsy Lee Peek Rooks: June 14, 2019

Mrs. Patsy Lee Peek Rooks, 79, of Americus, Ga., passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Hugh Harbort and the Rev. Andrew Stucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at the funeral home, and any other times, at 865 Shiloh Road, Ellaville, Ga.

 

Mrs. Rooks or Pitty Pat, as she was affectionately known, was born Nov. 7, 1939, in Schley County to the late Alton Parker and Minnie Jewel McClendon Peek. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and the Freddie Ward Sunday school class. Mrs. Rooks spent many years growing roses and caring for them, having won many state competitions. She was a loving mother and Granny. Mrs. Rooks was retired from the Americus City Schools after many years in administration and was also a cosmetologist for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Peek.

She is survived by her husband, W.R. Rooks Jr. of Americus, Ga.; three sons, Brad and Lisa Rooks of Ellaville, Ga., Tracy and Donna Rooks of Ellaville, Ga., and Dennis Rooks of Kathleen, Ga.; a sister, Mary Ann Parks of Americus, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Peek of Americus, Ga., and Alma Josey of Lake Blackshear, Ga.; five grandchildren, Carlie Kiley (Matt), Lindsey Abercrombie (Brian), Jordan Clemens (Josh), Davis Rooks (Morgan), and Dalton Rooks; three stepgrandchildren, William Rooks (Laura), Jonathan Rooks (Jessica), and Blake Reid (Emmy); and numerous great-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 961 Shiloh Road, Americus GA 31719.
