Firefighters responded to 14 calls for medical assistance.
Firefighters responded to an alarm on Glory Court. Sumter County Fire & Rescue arrived on scene first. They learned from the homeowner that burning food on the stove had activated the alarm. No hazards were found. Fire personnel offered to ventilate the structure, but homeowner declined.
Firefighters responded to Smith Street to a report of a tree limb on a power line in the roadway. They found the limb down on cable lines and removed it from the roadway.
Firefighters responded to Bozeman Circle to a report of smoke coming from a structure. Sumter County Fire & Rescue responded as automatic aide and arrived first. They extinguished a fire in the kitchen. They found a pot left on the stove and the eye was on. The occupants were advised not to remain in the apartment overnight and the American Red Cross was contacted, as well as the Americus Housing Authority.
Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
